The Issue of Plastic Waste
Every year, plastic is manufactured in excess of 300 million tonnes. Making durable, practical items requires a lot of plastic. But far too frequently, the plastic we use ends up somewhere undesirable. The degradation of that plastic results in microplastics, which are hard to remove and endanger ecosystems and human health. Reduced plastic use, improved recycling, more reusing, and the substitution of plastic with new sustainable materials are all necessary to stem the tide of the plastic catastrophe.
