Help! My cream has melted!

The creams are oil-based, therefore do not require preservatives, and have a very long shelf life - I just ask you to please keep them in a cool and dry place. As with all natural butters that are not chemically refined, they are prone to melting in direct sunlight. If this does happen - don't sweat! Just pop it in the fridge, give it a mix and it will be good to go!

Is Obvs Skincare Certified Organic?

Certainly are! Obvs Skincare is certified Soil Association COSMOS Organic. This is a prestigious achievement in which we are extremely proud of. You can read more about the Soil Association's strict policies here.

What does organic actually mean?

Organic products are made using organically grown produce that does not get contaminated with pesticides, herbicides, or other toxic chemicals. This means that organic skincare is much safer, avoiding harmful substances that often aggravate the skin. They are also GMO-Free!

 Why should I switch to organic?

Making the switch to organic can be life changing for many. Many decide to go organic when they’re pregnant, have sensitive skin, or because they’re fed up with over-the-counter products. Organic is more natural and avoids harsh chemicals. Thus, you will no longer suffer with skin irritation and potential health problems caused by inorganic cosmetics.

Organic products are free from toxic chemicals that affect soil health and ecosystems. Better yet, organic farming completely eliminates the use of synthetic substances. These substances are very damaging to soil and wildlife.

Is Obvs Skincare Certified Vegan?

Yes! In fact, Obvs Skincare is certified Vegan by The Vegan Society themselves! To learn more about their strict guidelines click here

Why should I use vegan products?

Vegan skincare is much less likely to irritate the skin thanks to using fewer but higher quality ingredients. Vegan means that no ingredients within the product are made from animals or their by-products. This includes things such as honey and beeswax. Vegan skincare is typically not tested on animals. There are exceptions in certain countries, however, where requirements are different to those of the UK. Obvs Skincare DOES NOT test on animals and never will! We are Leaping Bunny Approved.

Do you use biodegradable packaging?

All Obvs packaging is plastic-free and is as minimal as possible. It has been designed to pair well with our products, keeping them fresh and secure while being completely biodegradable.

In fact, Obvs Skincare is the first Soil Association COSMOS Organic and Vegan Society certified brand to use this new, innovative plant-based packaging (15ml and 50ml). Made from wood pulp and plant polymers, the pots are 100% biodegradable and biodegrade just like a piece of wood would! Even the labels are free from any plastic laminate. The glue and ink are biodegrable and vegan. The ribbon used on the gift sets is made from wood pulp, and again 100% biodegrade. You will not find any plastic or greenwashing anywhere here.

The large 100ml's are made from recyclable tin.

Do you test on animals?

Never! This is something we are completely against. We would never test our products on animals and strive to be an ethical business. All raw ingredient suppliers are proactively monitored to ensure our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. You will not find our products in China! Obvs Skincare is Leaping Bunny approved so you know our products are ethical and are made with love.

Obvs Skincare believes that skincare products should be cruelty free. We are proud to be Leaping Bunny approved. A global programme, Leaping Bunny requires cruelty free standards over and above legal requirements.

All of our own brand skincare and personal care products are approved under the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny programme, the internationally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products. We adhere to a fixed cut-off date policy and proactively monitor our suppliers to ensure that our products continue to adhere to the Leaping Bunny criteria. Our supplier monitoring system is also independently audited.

Do you use Palm Oil?

We do not use palm oil here at Obvs Skincare. It contributes to deforestation and animal endangerment on a global scale, which is something we do not want involvement in. Many products contain palm oil, but many vegans and those who are environmentally-conscious choose to avoid it.

How long does it take for the creams to work?

Don’t we all wish everything happened in an instant? Typically, when it comes to our skincare, it can take around 4-6 weeks before you see improvements. This is because on average, we have a 28 day skin cell turnover rate. Often, you can see results sooner, but it’s best to wait before judging. The Organic Intensive Skin Recovery Cream typically starts showing improvements in just 24 hours depending on the skin issue.

Can the creams be used on oily skin?

Sian has developed the moisturisers explicitly tailored for oily skin. As an individual with oily and acne-prone skin, she applies the Organic Cleanser followed by the Morning Mandarin Moisturiser in the morning and Evening Lavender at night. These moisturisers boast excellent absorption properties, and only a small amount is required. Although counterintuitive, utilising oil-based products on oily skin is highly effective. Typically, water-based cleansers can extract the skin's natural oils, leading to overproduction of sebum (oil) as a form of compensation. Addressing oil with oil is a more effective strategy.

Are your products safe for pregnant or nursing individuals and babies?

Our products are meticulously crafted with organic ingredients, ensuring their suitability for use on pregnant or nursing individuals, as well as babies and children. We prioritise your safety by avoiding the use of harsh chemicals, and every ingredient in our formulations is derived from nature. However, please note that products containing organic essential oils should not be used on babies under 3 months old or individuals with specific allergies to natural constituents like Citral, Citronellol, Limonene, or Linalol.

Are your products suitable for pets?

The Intensive Skin Recovery Cream is not particularly suitable for dogs as it contains a higher dose of zinc oxide which can be toxic to dogs in extremely large quantities if consumed. Check out the Organic Balm For Dogs instead.

When will I receive my order?

All orders will be sent via Royal Mail. Sian formulates, creates and packages all of your orders by hand. Your order will be sent out 1-3 working days after purchase. Royal Mail should send you updates along the way, but if you have any issues don’t hesitate to get in touch.

How long will my products last?

As every product is handmade in small batches by Sian Louise, freshness is guaranteed. Our products do have a 12-month shelf life. This information can be found on the label of all products. A little goes a very long way, as the saying goes “buy cheap, buy twice” – this isn’t the case with our products – each will last you at least twice as longer than any cheaper, unnatural, water based products on the market.

Why are organic products more expensive than regular products?

Our products are highly concentrated, meaning a little goes a long way, so you will save money in the long run. Plus, by choosing organic skincare, you can rest assured that the ingredients we use are sourced ethically and sustainably, with fair wages paid to those involved. We never compromise on quality, using only the best natural and raw ingredients available. Sure, it may cost a little more, but you are worth investing in and your skin will thank you for it. Do you offer collection?

I am afraid not. Our purpose built lab is situated in my family garden. My husband and I have decided that it is not practical to offer customer collections from our family home.

Some items in our store may be offered to you as a subscription.
When you purchase a subscription you'll receive repeat deliveries on a 3-monthly basis.
Your payment details will be stored securely, and you'll be charged for each of these deliveries, unless you choose to pay in advance. Some subscriptions may auto-renew at the end of their duration. If you don't want to renew a subscription you can cancel it.
If you want to cancel or change your subscription, you can do it at any time. Your order confirmation emails have links to your order. You can manage your subscription from there or even easier, make sure you set yourself up with an Obvs Skincare customer account.
